How we use AI
Fundacja ShieldNet uses artificial intelligence deliberately and openly. AI helps a small team do work that would otherwise need a much larger one. People remain responsible for everything we publish and every decision we make.
Where AI helps us
Analysing legislation
Reviewing EU and national law, such as NIS2, GDPR, the Cyber Resilience Act and the AI Act, and mapping it to ShieldNet controls.
Drafting and editing documents
First drafts, editing and consistency checks of the standard, its annexes and guidance.
Educational materials
Preparing training content, exercises and materials for ShieldNet Education and ShieldNet Kids.
Translation
Translating and adapting materials between languages.
Website and tools
Building and maintaining this website and our free online tools.
Where people decide
Certification decisions. Every certification decision is made by people on the Certification and Impartiality Committee. No decision about a person or an organization is made automatically.
Exam questions. AI may help draft questions, but people review and approve every question before it is used.
Children's data. We never enter data about children, parents or schools into AI tools.
Personal and confidential data. We enter personal data or confidential information into an AI tool only when a contract protects it and the use is lawful.
Our rules
A person is responsible. Someone at the foundation reviews every AI-assisted text before it is published, and the foundation holds editorial responsibility for it.
Checked against the source. Legal analysis prepared with AI is checked against the official text of the law.
Labelled where it matters. Images, audio or video generated with AI that could be mistaken for real are labelled as such.
People who know the limits. Everyone who uses AI at the foundation is trained to understand what it can and cannot do, in line with the AI literacy duty in Article 4 of the AI Act.
Why we tell you this
The AI Act requires disclosure of AI-generated text published to inform the public, unless people have reviewed it and someone holds editorial responsibility. Our texts meet that condition, but we believe you should know how we work anyway. A standard built on trust should be open about its own methods.
