Certification for individuals

Grow your cybersecurity skills with a path that starts free and leads to professional roles. Individual certification is earned by exam. It begins with the free Core Certificate, then builds toward Implementor and Auditor. The whole path is based on the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework, so the skills you gain are recognized beyond ShieldNet.

Your path, step by step

  1. Step 1:

    Core Certificate

The free entry level. Take the free Core Training, pass a short online exam, and earn a digital badge. This is where everyone starts.

Available, free. Exam opening soon.Start on the Education page
  2. Step 2:

    ShieldNet Implementor

For the people who put the standard in place inside an organization. Earned by exam, building on the Core Certificate.

    Coming soon.
  3. Step 3:

    ShieldNet Auditor

For the people who assess and verify how well the standard is applied. Earned by exam, the most advanced of the three.

    Coming soon.

Further roles based on the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework will follow.

How it stays fair

  • You can sit any exam without taking a course.
  • The Certification and Impartiality Committee approves the exam questions and makes every certification decision.
  • Valid certificates are listed in a public register.
  • Implementor and Auditor certificates are kept current through continuing professional education (CPE) and an annual maintenance fee.
  • You can appeal any decision. Appeals are heard by people who were not involved in the original decision.

Start with the Core Certificate

The Core Certificate is free and open to everyone. You take the free Core Training, then pass a short online exam to earn a verifiable digital badge issued through certifier.io. The training and the exam live on the Education page, where you can begin and follow the steps.

The exam runs as a separate ShieldNet application and opens soon. You will find it on the Education page.

Professional levels, in preparation

Above the Core Certificate, the Implementor and Auditor certificates recognize deeper, professional skill. Implementor is for those who carry out the standard. Auditor is for those who assess it, and it builds on Implementor. These are in preparation. You can register your interest now, on the Education page, and we will tell you when each one opens.

Recognized beyond ShieldNet

The personal path is based on the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework through Annex D, the Education Schema. Each level connects to a recognized cybersecurity role, so the skills travel with you, wherever you go next.
