Core Training, free for everyone
Core Training gives your whole team the basics of staying safe online and the ideas behind the ShieldNet standard, in plain language. It is free, with no registration. The video course is coming soon to YouTube. In the meantime, you can download the syllabus and the handbook and start learning today. When you are ready, you can take a short exam and earn the Core Certificate.

Earn the Core Certificate
After the Core Training, you can take a short online exam. Pass it, and you receive the ShieldNet Core Certificate, a digital badge issued through certifier.io. It is the entry level of our personal certification, free and open to everyone who completes the training.
How to earn it
- Take the Core Training: Work through the free Core Training course and materials.
- Pass the online exam: Take the exam on its own ShieldNet site. A passing result confirms you know the basics.
- Receive your badge: Get your ShieldNet Core Certificate as a verifiable digital badge from certifier.io.
The exam is a separate ShieldNet application. It opens soon.
Professional paths
Beyond the basics, ShieldNet is building professional training and certification for the people who implement, audit and lead security work. The personal track starts with the free Core Certificate, then builds toward professional roles. These paths build on the standard and map to the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework. ShieldNet training is based on the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework through Annex D, the Education Schema. Each path connects to a recognized cybersecurity role, so the skills travel with your people, wherever they go next.

Training and exams are separate
You do not have to take any course to sit a ShieldNet exam. Training is delivered by the foundation and by Authorized Education Partners, while exams and certification decisions belong to the independent Certification and Impartiality Committee. Trainers have no access to exam content.
